Don’t Feel Pressured To Retire Earlier Than You Planned

by Larry Dorman on April 4th

Because of the uncertainty of the discussions with the governor’s office and some of the recent statements made by the administration, some state public service workers are contemplating retiring sooner than they had planned.

Retirement is obviously an important personal life decision. No one should have to make it out of fear.

Remember that all health and retirement benefits are set by contract, and cannot be changed without agreement of the unions making up SEBAC, and ratification by the membership. That means members would know of any changes – positive or negative – in advance, and have a chance to both vote and make personal decisions accordingly.
