Weeks ago, the coalition of state employee unions called SEBAC struck deal with the Rell administration to save the recession-wrecked state $700 million. The mood was almost conciliatory.

Now the unions are going after Rell, demanding she ask rich residents and big business to share the pain of the state’s estimated $8 billion deficit by paying more in taxes.

“Call the governor,” the ad says. “Tell her to stop protecting the wealthy and big corporations. It’s time they were on the shared journey too.” (The number is 1-800-406-1527).
